  1. WELCOME PARENTS!Open House 9/23/09 Mrs. Takei Room 804 MESA and 7th Grade Science jtakei@sandi.net 858-586-7001 X 4804

  2. CLASS RULES • Be Prompt - in seat before bell rings. • Be Prepared - all materials brought to class. • Be Present - stay focused and on-task. • Be Responsible - do homework, study! • Be Respectful - treat others (and materials) as you would like to be treated.

  3. MESA • Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement • Increase math and science skills through hands-on experiments/projects. • Promote college readiness. • Grades are largely based on POSITIVE PARTICIPATION! Mostly in-class work.

  4. MESA CLUB • Expanded program compared to elective class. • Field trips, college campus tours, science project competitions, individualized academic plans for college readiness, guest speakers, etc. • Wednesdays, 2:10-4:00, beginning 10/7. (students who take late bus leave at 3:15)

  5. 7th Grade Science • Scientific Method, Metrics, Measurement. • Cells • Genetics • Ecology • Evolution of the Earth and Living Things • Structure and Function of Living Things • Physical Principles of Hearing and Vision

  6. 7th Grade Science • Grades are determined by total points turned in vs. total points possible. • Homework will be assigned almost every day. • Science Notebook (spiral), tape/glue, scissors, planner are required daily. • McDougal-Littell textbook should be at home.

  7. LATE WORK • Mrs. Takei accepts late work for full credit for an excused absence. Students get as many days to turn it in as they were gone. • Students are responsible for getting the assignments that they are missing. • Assignment crates, Master Notebooks, etc. • Other late work gets an 80% max.

  8. COMMUNICATION • Homework/daily activity will be reported on Challenger website. • Grades will be entered weekly in Zangle. (parents can see them on Parent Connect) • Mrs. Takei is available by email anytime. • Please sign up for a Parent-Teacher conference on the sign-in sheet!
