  2. Establishing a CAN Network • Utilize CEC’s Resources to get started (i.e. Setting up a listserv) • Learn CEC’s positions on various public policies • Revisit civics 101

  3. Building a CAN Network • Identify members who are politically active or interested in politics • Identify members who are leaders in the field • Communicate regularly and effectively • Promote grassroots advocacy at unit, community meetings

  4. Organizing Your Network • Establish a schedule (e.g. every Friday send CEC’s Policy Update) • Larger states could have regional coordinators • Manage email traffic

  5. Maintaining Your Network • Check with CEC to obtain the latest contact list • Become a resource • Share resources • Develop relationships with active members • Provide members with action they can take/ways to participate
