THOMAS EDISON • Thomas Edison didn't invent the Light Bulb, merely improved it's usability • Sir Joseph Swan invented the Light Bulb in 1878. • Born in Milan, Ohio; grew up in Port Huron • Father; Samuel Oden Edison Jr. • Mother; Nancy Elliott Edison • The youngest of 7 kids • home schooled • Some other invention that he had improved or invented were the electric chair, phonograph, toilets, and sinks.

ROSA PARKS • Moved with her grandparents by 2;divorce; Anderson & Louisa • In 1932; married Raymond parks • 1934; got H.S diploma • Sat in front of the bus • Received a freedom metal from the • 42nd president • Mrs. Parks died in 2005, at the age of 92 • $100 to get Rosa out of jail • On December 18, 1932 outside the home of Leona McCauley, Rosa's mom

MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. • Born on January 15,1929 in Atlanta Georgia • His name was Michael then changed it to martin • Graduated high school at 15 • Started strikes and boycotts • Strikes and Boycotts lasted 382 days • Married Coretta Scott on June 18 1953 • They had 4 kids • Made a speech “I have a dream” • Helped change the law • Started 4 boycotts but lead 12

AMILIA EARHART • Nickname was power puff derby; Will Rodger • The first woman to ride a airplane • She got married in February, 1931 • On January 11, 1935, she became the first woman to fly through the pacific from Honolulu to Oakland, C.A • No one’s sure of her death • There’s 2 theories about her death • She’s been missing since July 2, 1937 • Claimed to be dead in January 5, 1939

BARAK OBAMA • The first black president of the U.S.A • The president of 2009 • 44th president of the U.S.A, • Born in August 4,1961, in Hawaii (47yrs.) • Barak Husseian Obama • Has a wife; Michelle;1988;married1992 • Malia Ann(1998) and Natasha (Sasha) Obama(2001) • Parents divorced when he was 2 years old • Obama receives 365 electoral votes this year

  10. Conclusion I learned many things about all the six people that I just talked about. Such as Thomas Edison, I didn’t know he was homeschooled, until now. From each of the six people I learned at lease one thing. All of the 6 people are very brave for what they did. They all had the courage to stand up for what they thought was right, and they all wanted to make a change. They all did partly the same thing, they fought , and won. Except for Thomas, he’s a different story. Thomas invented light, which took many tries, but he never gave up, he kept on trying, until he made it work. And it is still useful. All of these six people effected how the U.S.A worked even ‘till now.
