  1. by Mae Walker Okapi

  2. These are five different groups of animals with vertebrates. Mammals Fish Reptiles Birds and Amphibians

  3. My animal’s classification is… My animal is classified as a mammal because it is warm-blooded, has babies live, and it has fur. It does not lay eggs like birds. They are not fish so they have no scales.

  4. Where Does My Animal Live? My animal lives in the forest floor with the bushes and bugs near swamps. It lives in the Tropical Rainforests of central Africa. The water in the swamp helps the trees grow around the swamp and then the trees have food for the okapi.

  5. ? My animal eats leaves, fungi, flowers and even stems with thorns on it. “Oh…that's sharp” What Does my Animal Eat?

  6. The okapi’s fur is covered with black silky warm soft fur. It has zebra stripes on it’s front and back legs. The stripes help it blend into the shadows of the forest. Facts About my Animal

  7. H o w D o e s m y A n I m a l S u r v I v e ? It survives by blending in with the plants like a zebra or a tiger blends in with plants.

  8. How Much Does the Okapi Weigh? • The okapi weighs 1,450 pounds. Wow! That’s heavier than two of my friends and I …or even three friends and I.

  9. How tall is My Okapi? • The okapi is 5 feet tall and that’s why it is related to the giraffe. Oh and my animal is almost as tall my math teacher.

  10. Predator The okapis predator is a jaguar. When the jaguar tries to hurt the baby okapi the mom or dad fights for them.

  11. Ending • I hope you learned a lot about my slide show. You might see the okapi at the zoo. Just make sure it looks like a okapi. • I like the okapi because it is one of a kind.
