  2. Our Secular Society • Distracted by technology • Concerned about rights but not responsibilities • Victim mentality - “not my fault” • Non-judgmental, non-accountable

  3. A “New Birth”?Makes little sense to many people • Why a blessing? • Why great mercy? • Why do I need it? • Why do I need God? • I’m not “that” bad, • I just don’t see the need

  4. Why we NEED a new life Romans 3:11-12, 23 THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS, THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD;12. ALL HAVE TURNED ASIDE, TOGETHER THEY HAVE BECOME USELESS; THERE IS NONE WHO DOES GOOD, THERE IS NOT EVEN ONE."

  5. Why we NEED a new life We ALL sin, miss the mark, fall short World’s viewpoint? non-judgmental, we’re only human an EXCUSE ! Gods’ viewpoint? John 1:5; Isaiah 59:1-2 Sin means “separation”, death!

  6. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. “Wages” are to be received. Here’s what’s coming.

Why we NEED a new life Ephesians 2:1-3 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins,2. in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience.3. Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.

The world is being led by a king Romans 6:16 Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness? The world is being led by their own desires to separation and to death.

Galatians 5:19-21 Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20. idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, 21. envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

  10. What is the result of following the flesh? • Will not inherit • Separated • death

  11. How can men “fix” this situation? • Just do better • Little motivation to do any better • Doesn’t make up for the past • Just ignore the situation

  12. Acts 17:30-31 Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent,31. because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead." Judgment day is coming

  13. Romans 14:10, 12 But you, why do you judge your brother? Or you again, why do you regard your brother with contempt? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God. 12. So then each one of us will give an account of himself to God.

  14. 2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. Recompense is coming

  15. How can men “fix” this situation? • Just do better • Just ignore the situation • GET FORGIVENESS

  16. 1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, Get a NEW life with a LIVING hope

  17. Through the resurrection of Christ Romans 6:4, 6 Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. 6. knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin;

  18. 1 Peter 3:12 "FOR THE EYES OF THE LORD ARE TOWARD THE RIGHTEOUS, AND HIS EARS ATTEND TO THEIR PRAYER, BUT THE FACE OF THE LORD IS AGAINST THOSE WHO DO EVIL." We get a spiritual Father who cares.

  19. 1 Peter 1:4 We get an INHERITANCE • Imperishable- no devaluation • Undefiled- unsoiled • Will not fade away- no mirage • Reserved- taken care of • In heaven- therefore NOT on earth

  20. Can we see the blessing? Can we see the grace? Can we see our need? Have you been born again?
