  2. “Yo!BaNa is a media literacyproject for young islanders and everyoneworkingclose to them.  It has been set up in order to improvefilmmaking and film screening possibilities, butalso to strengthen the affinitywithin the Baltic Sea region and to expose the islands and the youth to oneanother.” www.yobana.eu

  3. The project has performed: • 250 workshop days • with children • Local film camps • Local film fiestas • One international film camp on Gotland and one on Åland

  4. A hugesuccess! 1 364 youngpeoplehavenowdevelopedtheir narrative skills by means of film. Of these are 50 children with special needs. The goalwas to involve 500 children in total.

  5. An online hit! 580 of the films that were madecan be viewed on the projects joint YouTubechannel. www.youtube.com/yobanaproject By the end of 2012 the channel hadreachedmorethan 73 000 views!

  6. New friends for life Mostchildrenkeep in touch with somebody from another region outside the project events. Mostly by Facebook, Skype, and Chat.

  7. Dedication and participation • 329 pedagogues • 33 recreationalpedagogues • 123 educational workshops, • seminars, and international • meetings

  8. Sharing experiences Pedagogueshavehad the possibility to travel to international meetings and camps in Tallin, Gotland and Åland. Tutors from other regions havealso visited the schools and sharedtheir experiences over the boarders. Wehavemade 23 three-days tutor exchanges and the tutors, pedagogues and childrenhave found it a real treat.

  9. Improved media literacy The pedagoguesevaluate theirlevel of media literacybeingbetterdue to the project.

Yo!BaNacontinues To keep the projectalivewehaveproduced a booklet and a film whichtells the story aboutYo!BaNa. 5 000 copies has beenspread to participants, press, politicians, organizations, and localauthorities. Four out of five regions haveappointed a person responsible for developing media literacy so that youngpeoplewillhave the opportunity to work with moving images on a regular basis. The Yo!BaNaweb and ourYouTubesitewillkeep on publishing news and films until the end of 2015. All participating regions are interested in keeping the filmmaking going, and a new project is already in the making!
