  10. XML vs EDIFACT Both formats required EDIFACT is well established XML is ”future proof” Add XML to your library No need to replace functioning EDIFACT Consider XML on new connections XML to connect small/medium partners Future standard replacing EDIFACT Embedded in new software More flexible than EDIFACT Easier to make integration Easy to read and write to Easy to split information and presentation Complies with Web Services

  17. Aims of promotional activity Create awareness of the Shortsea XML project within the European shippers, logistic, transport and shortsea sectors. To secure a rapid and wide adoption of the Shortsea XML standard throughout the European shortsea community. Based on a sufficient number and variety of reference implementation cases. Training and workshops

  18. Activities after 15th September 2008 • SMDG and UN/CEFACT will maintain the standards • Implementations will continue • SPC – will be able to promote and diffuse

  19. Frokostseminar 28 februar • Sted: Auditoriet, Holberg Terrasse, Stensbergsgt.

  20. Benefits Simplify and streamline administrative processes Reduce administrative errors Improve transparency Improve customer service Save man hours and free-up staff Improved data quality
