  1. Leaving Cert Vocational Programme • Introduced in 1994 to enhance the vocational dimension of the L.C. • A 2 year programme which caters for the diversity of students needs at senior cycle.

All of these skills and qualities are needed in preparation for further education, seeking employment or planning to start their own business L.C.V.Pencourages students – • To be innovative and enterprising • To evaluate and devise solutions to problems • To investigate local and community enterprises • To learn from experiences

  3. Programme Requirements • Students must be studying 5 subjects including Irish and a modern language • Students must be also studying the subjects from the Subject Groupings List • Two Link Modules

Science Home Ec and Accounting or Business or Economics Ag Science & Accounting or Business or Economics Music & Accounting or Business or Economics Subject Groupings • Ag. Science and Chemistry or Physics • Home Economics,Ag. Science,Biology • Home Ec and Art • Accounting, Business, Economics(anytwo) • Physics & Chemistry • Art & Accounting or Business or Economics

Enterprise Education Visits to local businesses and community enterprises Interviewing local business personell Enterprise Activities Presentations to adults and peers Using ICT Link Modules • Preparation for the world of work- • Letter writing, CV Presentations • Interview techniques • Career Investigation and shadowing • Inviting guest speakers • Using ICT • Work Experience

Optional Items-(any two) Diary of work experience Enterprise report Recorded interview Report on my own place Why take extra subject • A Portfolio of Coursework (60)% marks is assembled over 2 yrs and assessed externally by the Dept of Education and Skills • The portfolio contains the following- • CV • Career Investigation • Enterprise Action Plan • Summary Report

  7. Written Exam • The structure of the written exam is as follows • Section A- Audio Visual Presentation • Section B- Case study • Section C- General Questions

  8. Grades Distinction 80-100% Merit 65-79% Pass 50-64% Certification • College points • Distinction 70 points • Merit 50 points • Pass 30 points
