  1. Easter Sunday: The Resurrection of Jesus Easter Sunday: The Resurrection of Jesus

  2. What is Easter Sunday? On Easter Sunday, Christians celebrate the resurrection of the Lord, Jesus Christ. It is typically the most well-attended Sunday service

  3. of the year for Christian churches.

  4. Christians believe according to Scripture, that Jesus came back to life, or was raised from the dead, three days after his death on the cross. As part of the Easter season, the death

  5. of Jesus Christ by crucifixion, is commemorated on Good Friday, always the Friday just before Easter. Through his death, burial and resurrection, Jesus paid

  6. the penalty for sin, thus purchasing for all who believe in him, eternal life in Christ Jesus.

  7. How did Resurrection happen? On the first day of the week, at dawn, the women came to the tomb bringing the spices they had prepared.

  8. They found the stone rolled back from the tomb; but when they entered the tomb, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.

  9. While they were still at a loss over what to think of this, two men in dazzling garment stood beside them. Terrified, the women bowed to the ground.

  10. The men said to them : “Why do you search for the living one among the dead? He is not here; He has been raised up. Remember what he said to you while he was still in Galilee---

  11. that the son of man must be delivered into the hands of the sinful men, and be crucified, and on the third day rise again.”With this reminder, his words came back to them.

  12. On their return from the tomb, they told all these things to the eleven and the others. The women were Mary of Magdala, Joanna and Mary the mother of James.

  13. The other women with them told the apostles, but the story seemed like nonsense and they did not believe them.

  14. What is the significance of the Resurrection? The resurrection of Jesus is important for several reasons. First, it witnesses to the immense power of God Himself. To believe in

  15. the resurrection is to believe in God. If God exists, and if He created the universe and has power over it, He has power to raise the dead. If He does not have such power, He is not a God

  16. worthy of our faith and worship. Only He who created life can resurrect it after death, only He can reverse the hideousness that is death itself, and only He can remove the sting

  17. that is death and the victory that is the grave’s. In resurrecting Jesus from the grave, God reminds us of His absolute sovereignty over life and death.

  18. Second, the resurrection of Jesus is a testimony to the resurrection of human beings, which is a basic tenet of the Christian faith. Unlike all other religions, Christianity alone

  19. possesses a founder who transcends death and who promises that His followers will do the same. All other religions were founded by men

  20. and prophets whose end was the grave. As Christians, we take comfort in the fact that our God became man, died for our sins, and was resurrected the third day. The grave

  21. could not hold Him. He lives, and He sits today at the right hand of God the Father in heaven.

  22. Here is a summary of the Resurrection: Jesus in conquering death through his resurrection, proved that everything He said and did was true, that the apostles were right to believe in Him.

  23. If we truly love Jesus, then we shall trust in Him with all our hearts, even when we or our loved ones are burdened with problems. It is our faith and hope in Jesus that will enable us to proclaim the Easter joy of his resurrection.

  24. On Easter Sunday, Jesus rose from the dead as He promised. He conquered death through his resurrection.

  25. Resurrection means, Jesus Christ rose from the dead to live with his Father forever.

  26. Every Easter, a great candle is lighted. It is called the EASTER CANDLE. It reminds us of the Resurrection of Jesus and that we too will share a new life with Him.

  27. Easter brings us hope. Easter brings us joy to all. Easter is the feast of new life.

  28. At mass, we remember those who have died and we celebrate their resurrection. We will live forever with God.

  29. This is the reason why we are happy as Christians. Jesus whom we receive in the Holy Eucharist will give us eternal life.

  30. Every Mass is a celebration of Jesus’ resurrection. We celebrate the Eucharist with joy and hope together with all the children of God.

  31. We go to Church to celebrate with the people of God every Sunday. Sunday is the Lord’s day. It is the day when Jesus rose from the dead as He promised.
