  3. tafsir • The word ‘tafsir’ is derived from ‘fasr’ • Means ‘to open’ • Technical definition: • The science of Tafsir is that branch of knowledge that deals with the method of the delivery of the words of the Qur’an and their interpretation in their individual and composite forms • Six components • How the words are read (Qira’at) • Interpretation/meaning of the words • Grammatical form, root, conjugation, and etymology of the words • Rules regarding compound words/phrases • Impact of compound words/phrases on the definition of those words • Summation of meanings and context Qur'anic Sciences - DKI
