  2. What are idioms? They are: • Expressions • Quotes or sayings • Sometimes local language For example • Kill two birds with one stone • Break a leg • Flat out like a lizard drinking

  3. Meaning versus picture Break a leg • This doesn’t actually mean go and break your leg. It means ‘good luck’ in theatrical circles but is so well known lots of people use it.

  4. Meaning versus picture A blessing in disguise • This doesn’t mean that your local priest is in disguise while giving you a blessing. It means that a bad thing that might happen could turn out to be something good.

  5. Meaning versus picture • Kill 2 birds with one stone • This means by doing one thing you can actually achieve two things at once.
