  2. Personal Story- Words cannot explain how you feel when an accident happens that takes the life of your child so suddenly. There is no time to prepare for it. In the minutes, hours, days, weeks and months that follow, a rollercoaster of emotions is part of that experience. When you look at the graphs and lists of statistics, remember that each dot or each number, is another family, and a community, just like ours. The death of a child due to a Low-Speed Run-Over accident has a dramatic and far-reaching effect- not just during the immediate time following, but it is ongoing- for life.

  4. In Georgina’s garden- Easter 2012. The statue is the only Mother’s Day present (from 2010) I will receive from all four of my children.

  5. Morning Tea Presentation- Research completed shows approach to reduce (LSVR) statistics needs to include all of the following: • Change the environment • Change the vehicles • Education campaign

  6. Physical Barrier Systems • Physical barriers need to be in place: • Driveway/house design • Fence driveways • Look at internal access doors between house and garage

  7. Driveway Design • Driveway/house design- fence driveways if possible • Design houses where children’s play areas are well away from garage and driveway areas

  8. Internal access door between houses/garages: • higher door handle, • self-closer, • inward swinging heavier (solid core) door

  9. Automatic Roller Door Cut-Off Switch Cut-off switch: when internal access door between house and garage is open, power to the automatic roller doors is cut off.

  10. Vehicle Reversing Systems • Many vehicle manufacturers are beginning to look at reversing systems for their vehicles to increase safety, Reverse Alert is one example:
