  2. The Science Notebook and the S.P.A.C.E. Format Format for Notebook 1. Outside Cover: Your Name, Class Title and Period. 1st page: Title Page : Your Name, Class Title and Period. Next 4 pages: Table of Contents ( Date, Title of Activity, Page # ) Activity

  3. How to Enter an Activity Starter ( Warm up) - The activity usually begins with a short starter. This is your 1st entry. Practice - Your Notes, examples, etc. go under this 2nd entry. These may also just be instructions for your research. Activity - This is the 3rd entry. It’s what you are doing personally. It may be practice problems , taking data in a lab, or the results of researching a given question. Connection - This is the 4th entry. Write an example of how what you are doing connects to the real world or your self. Exit - This is the 5th and last entry. You will usually be given a 2 or 3 minute time at the end with a writing prompt.

  4. FAQs on Science Notebooks Q: Will it be a grade? A: YES, a big one. ( Daily) Q: What kind of book do I need? A: Composition book is preferred ( 50 cents.) Spiral is OK. Q: Can I write in pencil? A: No use ink. Line through mistakes. Q: Do we take it home or leave it here? A: Your choice. You have to have it every day.

  5. Lab Report Format You will hand in lab reports. They are a daily grade. ( 50%) Your data comes from your science notebook, but you will make a separate report to hand in. You must follow the lab report guidelines.

  6. Lab Report Format Physics AP and Pre- AP Lab Report Format All sections are to be typed using a word processor, and a spreadsheet for the data and graphs. There are 6 parts to the lab report: A. Coversheet Lab Title Course Period Date Lab Group Names ( First and Last) B. Data 1. Must be in an Excel table. 2. Label with a name and units C. Graphs (if required). Use Excel. 1. Label each axis with a name and units. 2. Title the graph. 3. Show any slope calculations directly on the graph. D. Questions Answer all questions in this section. G. Summary – a short written summary includes: 1. The objective of the lab. 2. A description of the lab procedure. 3. A statement of your results. 4. Reasons for error.
