  3. Nalanda at a Glance: • Total Area: 2,367 sq. kms. • Number of Blocks: 20 • Sub Division: Biharsharif, Rajgir & Hilsa • Total Population: 28,77,653 • Area: 2,355 sq km • Density : 1,222 sq km • Male: 14,97,060 • Female: 13,80,593 • Sex Ratio: 922 • Literacy Rate: 64.43%

  4. Objectives of MGNREGA: • Provide 100 days of guaranteed employment • Maximum participation of the most vulnerable section of society specially women • Creation of local durable assets through self selection

JEEViKA • The objective of Jeevika [Bihar Rural Livelihood Promotion Society ]: Livelihood Enhancement and Vulnerability Reduction • Jeevika works through creating SHG s of poor women and bigger community institutions. • Each SHG member/ Didi is representative of poor Household • Mgnrega is one such scheme which ensures employment for 100 days and hence reduces vulnerability context of poor.

  12. Bridge Finance through Jeevika • Bridge loan after 7 days of work done to the worker for a period of 3 months • Bridge Financing support of 80% of actual wage earned • SHG member repays once she has received wage payment.
