  2. Adnan's no Indian!AGENCIES, Apr 19, 2010, 12.00am • Adnan Sami has been sent a showcause notice by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for declaring that he was an Indian while seeking a Rs 1.5 crore loan from a bank to help him buy eight flats in Mumbai.

EXPLAINATION OF THIS NEWS • Adnan Sami has been sent a showcause notice by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for declaring that he was an Indian while seeking a Rs 1.5 crore loan from a bank to help him buy eight flats in Mumbai. The ED also charged him with purchasing properties without permission from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), which is mandatory under Foreign Exchange Management Act, ED said. “Adnan has not made any false statements as alleged in the notice issued by ED,” said the Pakistani singer’s lawyer, Vibhav Krishna, adding, “Adnan holds a PAN card issued by India since 1998 and has been regularly paying taxes. He applied for Indian citizenship in 2005 on the ground that his mother hails from Jammu. He was unaware that RBI’s permission was necessary to buy the flats.”
