Whoweare? • University of Oulu is the second largest multidisciplinary university (about 15 000 students and 3000 staff members) in Finland and ranked among the 500 best universities in the world • Oulu Business School (OBS) is one of the ten faculties within University of Oulu • About 1500 students and 100 faculty members • About 260 new students enrolled this autumn • 190 students in Finnish Bachelor’s Programmes • 40 students in International Master’s Programmes • 30 students in Finnish Master’s Programmes • In addition: 70 exchange studentsarrivingthisautumn at OBS • OBS receivedAACSB accreditationlastyear: only 2 AACSB accredited business schools in Finland and 4 in Northern Europe, OBS included.

  7. Signingup for courses and exams • Important: Youneed to signup for everyCOURSE and EXAM in WebOodi: https://weboodi.oulu.fi/ • Registrationperiodsfor coursesvary, checktimetables in WebOodi. Usually the registrationclosesoneweekafterthe firstlecture. • Exam registration must be done at the latest one week before the exam day, on previous Thursday at 23.59, via WebOodi. • Late registrations for courses or exams are not accepted. • Exam will be graded only if the student has registered to the course and the exam in time. • Rules of examination and exam list available at http://www.oulu.fi/oulubusinessschool/exams • The registration for courses starting this week is still open. It is recommended to check the timetables in WebOodi as soon as possible.

Note on ethicalissues • University of Oulu haszerotolerance for cheating (i.e. copyingexamanswers, plagiarism of coursework etc.) • For example: chatting in examhallorquotingotherwriterswithoutappropriatereferencesis considered as cheating • Usereferenceseverytimeyouquoteotherwriters/websites/etc. • Iffoundguilty of cheating, the exam (orothercoursework) willbeannulled and the studentwillget a warning. • Severeoffencescanbepunishedevenbysuspending the student.

Otherpracticalissues • Registration to the university (in case youhaven’tdonethisalready) • Firstyou’llneed to pay the studentunionfee (96 Euros/year, includesstudenthealthservicefee) at the Student Union office • Then, in Student Center (room: KE1020, open Mon-Fri 9 am – 3 pm), youcanenroll as presentstudent (take the receipt of studentunionfee with you). • Afterenrollmentyou’llreceiveyouruseraccountfor Webmail and WebOodi (takesusually1 day, at most) • Untilthe studentcardarrives, studentdiscounts in restaurants etc. willbereceivedonly with the receipt of the payment • A comprehensiveguideon practicalissues (Guide for New International Students) canbefound at: http://www.oulu.fi/english/studying/new-students/guide
