He is now between 1.25 and 1.5 pounds and is about a foot long • Still adding fat and muscle • Lungs are not yet developed • With intensive care and a hospital stay until the due date, some babies can survive if born now but most will have disabilities

  7. Mom – 28 weeks • You will go to the doctor every 2 weeks now • You will have decided on some baby names • Now is the time to decide how you will feed your baby • Now is the time to start thinking about childbirth classes if you have not attended some already

  8. 32 weeks • Baby is urinating and producing blood cells • Your baby will turn their head toward sources of light • Babies elbows and knees are poking you due to the decreased amount of space • Baby is now 17 inches and 4 pounds

  9. 32 weeks

  10. Mom – 32 weeks • Aching abdomen, back and ribs as the baby is taking up more space and the uterus is streching. • Heartburn is increasing as organs are moved out of place • You are beginning to waddle because your body is producing relaxin (a hormone to relax the pelvis)

  11. 36 weeks • Your baby is getting plump – they have been gaining fat the last few weeks • They are fully developed and have a 95% chance of survival with no extra care if born now • Baby is turning head down • 19 inches and 5-6 pounds • Gains ½ lb a week in the last month
