Custom Conversions Steps to Convert Standalone data: • Perform MultiLIS dry conversion • Manual analysis of the data - Specifically evaluate the item data - What tag(s) and subfields hold item data? - How does this item data map to INFOhio’s specs for 852 subfields • Create pre-processing table using MultiLIS conversion tables to convert holdings to INFOhio’s standard format

Custom Conversions Steps to Convert Standalone data (cont.): • Convert marc data with pre-processing table until item data is “INFOhio compatible” • During this time use outformat=1 rule in pre-processing table (to output Mlis format data) Newtape –a <pre-table> <datafile> -c <filename.c> -j <filename.j> • Once table is working as desired, change rule to outformat=0 • Reconvert so data is output in MARC output • Once holdings data is INFOhio compatible form use standard procedures. • @lis_mgr:sirsi_analysis.com • @lis_mgr:sirsi_conv.com • Use procedures for loading MARC data in Sirsi

  6. Custom Conversions • INFOhio Tech Services will help create simple pre-processing tables • You may contract with INFOhio Tech Services if complex table pre-processing is required to convert the data.

  8. Rename vendor files using .mrc extension

  9. By default .mrc files can be set to open with MarcEdit.

  10. Browse to select directory tosave the new text version of the file.

  11. Specify the directory and file name.

  12. Click Execute to create .mrk file.

  13. Subfield b is missing from 852 tag.

  14. Save edited file with a new name

  15. Make .mrc versionof edited file to loadinto database.

  16. Edited file ready to load. Total time for entire process: 59 seconds
