  2. 9 10 8 6 7 5 3 4 2 1 Hi! My name is Sarah. Today I am at the park and I am going to teach you how to play my favorite game—Hopscotch!

  3. 9 10 8 6 7 5 3 4 2 1 First you have to find a court… …and a rock like this one.

  4. 9 10 8 6 7 5 3 4 2 1 Now throw the rock into the first square. Hop on one foot if there is only one box in the row and two feet if there are two boxes next to each other in the row.

  5. 9 10 8 6 7 5 4 3 2 1 When you get to the end, turn around and come back. Don’t forget to pick up your rock!

  6. 9 10 8 6 7 5 3 4 2 1 Now you have to throw your rock into the second square. Remember not to step into the square where your rock is!

  7. 9 10 8 6 7 5 3 4 2 1 Now do the same for all the rest of the squares One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, Seven, Eight, Nine, and Ten!

  8. 9 10 8 6 7 5 3 4 2 1 Oh, no! I lost a turn! But remember these rules! If the rock lands on a line, you lose a turn.

  9. 9 10 8 6 7 5 3 4 2 1 If the rock lands in the wrong box, you lose a turn! Shucks, I meant to throw it in 2 and it landed in 4! Now I lost my turn!

  10. 9 10 8 6 7 5 3 4 2 1 If you step in the box with your rock, you lose your turn. Ahhh. My rock is in this box!

  11. 9 10 8 6 7 5 3 4 2 1 The last rule is if you touch a line, you lose your turn! Darn! I touched the line so I lost my turn!

  12. 9 10 8 6 7 5 3 4 2 1 You can also play with a friend if you want. Just follow the same rules, but if you lose your turn, it is you friend’s chance to play!

  13. 9 10 8 6 7 5 3 4 2 1 If you lose your turn, you don’t have to start at 1, start at the number that you messed up on!

  14. 9 10 8 6 7 5 3 4 2 1 Now you know all the rules so you can go play by yourself or with a friend!
