  3. About the project The idea of the project „Hopscotch. In search of vintage games” is to draw the youth away from sitting in front of the computer and to discern that not only the virtual world is beautiful. In the first year of the enterprise, together with the school from Estonia we carried out a survey among those connected with the knowledge of vintage games (e.g. kapsle, palant). We got the biggest amount of information from elderly people, which is of great importance since one of the aims of the project is building up the intergeneration bonds. During the first visit to Poland, out of a huge database, we chose some games from both countries. All the activities we have undertaken are based on the values of friendship, respect, goodness, sincerity, love, trust and tolerance. The very project is propagated in the form of brochures, multimedia presentations in other schools in the town and in the local environment. The Partner Project Comenius enables the fulfilment of the cognitive aims assumed by the schools; it enables the students to develop the curiosity of the world, get to know other cultures, tolerance and cooperative skills in different circumstances. It teaches the existence in the contemporary world and international cooperation and allows the students to improve their language skills. Both the schools have great experience in cooperation and implementing both projects and other actions on the national and international stage. 4. Sticks( bierki)- a game which helps socializing whose aim is to collect as many as possible colourful sticks from the pile, without moving the rest of sticks. History A classic game measuring ability and giving the element of socializing. It was quite popular in Poland in the 1970-1980s. The game was known by German tribes 2000 years ago. ( Wikipedia ) * The number of contestants: - Whatever, but practically 4 is a good number- age-no limits. * Place-even and hard surface- a board, table, bench etc. * Items needed: the set of sticks( 23 or 34 sticks - wooden or pla stic- of different colours and with different endings: tridents:1-2, harpoons 2-3, oars 2-3, boat hooks 2-3, spears 16-24). The numbers of particular sticks differ depending on the set. You practice strong will, concentration and agility. .

  5. Before the beginning players need to draw lots who is to start and who is the next. The aim of the game is to collect the biggest number of scattered sticks (bierki),one by one, so that the rest of sticks remain untouched. The player decides which stick will be picked up by the player’s fingers or by means of ‘won’ sticks. If, while picking up, the stick is moved, the player loses his turn. The winner is the one who collects the biggest number of points. The points are related to the colours of sticks. 1.The person who is to start the game holds the sticks in hand together, putting their one side against the surface (the table). Then he scatters the sticks by the sudden releasing of fingers. 2 1 3 4

  6. Picking up the stick by the hand Putting up the stick with the other stick

  7. Pushing one stick away with the other one Picking up one stick by means of two other sticks. one additional rule can be added: a player can take maximum up to three sticks at one turn

  8. One of the most difficult combinations; a player presses with his hand on the one side of the stick while trying to pick it up by means of the other stick. 1 2 3 6 4 5

  9. The names of the particular sticks and the sores for each stick a trident a harpoon an oar a boat hook a spear 25 pointsts 15 pointsts 10pointsts 5 pointsts 1 pointsts Remember! If you purchase wooden sticks, which do not have special endings, but only different colours, then you need to adjust the pointing system to particular colours .
