  2. Wind Farms

  3. How it works Wind Farms are created so that the energy from the wind can be harnessed and used. It takes the wind and converts it using its generator and then sends it off through power lines and other various ways of transport.

  4. Advantages and Disadvantages Disadvantages • Strength of wind is not constant (unpredictable) • Not in My Backyard • Some people say that wind turbines are unpleasant to look at. Advantages • Wind Is Free! • No Pollutants! • Play role in third world

  5. Our idea! You may think that we are crazy for wanting this to work, but we believe that it would be very good for tourism. Chicago- The Windy City Each floor rotates at own pace to make interesting designs. Spins and generates its own power from the wind.

  6. Dual Flush Toilet When you flush, you only use as much water as needed by pressing a different button depending on if you went #1 or #2. For #1, it uses 1.1 gallons and #2 uses 1.6 gallons (same for conventional toilet). Saves an average of 15 gallons of water per person per day.

  7. CFL Light Bulbs A 13-15 watt light bulb that lasts up to 6,800 more hours on average than the incandescent bulb. The operating cost for one bulb is $2.65 per year. (incandescent is $10.95 per bulb per year) That is $8.30 saved per bulb!

  8. Earth Tubes Way to pump air using earth temperature and pre-heating and pre-cooling. Provide 67% of the energy (BTUs) required to heat and cool the required exchanged air.

  9. Alternative Insulation • Jeans are meshed and melted together into normal blocks of insulation and put in between wall.

  10. Composting Toilet • Composting and dry toilets use natural processes to turn human excreta into a valuable soil amendment. • They typically use no water, or very little water.
