  1. Programmed Instruction • Students work through this Unit of Learning at their own pace and are tested at each step with a multiple choice question. • This example is taken from the IMS Best Practice and Implementation Guide Version 1 (page 48).

Programmed Instruction • Narrative • Students attempt each question in sequence • When a wrong answer is selected, the system notifies the student to try again • When the correct answer is selected, the student is able to move on to the next question • IMS LD Properties • When a question is answered correctly, the property for that question is changed • This triggers the availability of the next question • When a question is answered incorrectly, an error message is shown to the user
