  1. All you want to know about tequila Tequila, the unique spirit from Mexico, is made from the heart of a blue agave plant, which grows in abundance around the city of Tequila in central-western Mexico. This agave-based liquor was fermented by the Aztecs from centuries, but it was the Spaniards who thought of developing it as a drink, what we know today as Tequila. To help you better explore about this exciting drink found abundantly in any Mexican drinks menu in Glendale or during happy hours in Los Angles, we have collated everything you need to know about it. ● For tequila to be original, it must be produced in Mexico, in the same manner, the real champagne has to be produced in France to be authentic. The most ancient varieties are produced in the western part of Mexico. ● Choosing the right tequila can be daunting, but there are a few pointers that you can check before buying your favorite drink. Always read the label before purchasing a bottle. Buy 100% agave only. This means that the bottle contains tequila with no added sugar because when corn syrup or sugar is added to the fermentation, this spirit is called Mixto and not tequila. Also, check if the label has the words: 'Hecho en Mexico' as it suggests that it is produced by the traditional Mexican process and is 100% made in Mexico. ● To enjoy your tequila, you also need a perfect glass to accompany it. The most traditional way to enjoy tequila is to use, narrow shot glass called a Caballito, that means 'little horse’. ● Although it is normal to drink a shot of tequila with lime and salt, traditionally, it is usually served neat in order to enjoy its rich flavor and aroma. Contrary to expectations, tequila is not a shooter drink in Mexico and is often drink neat alongside "sangria," a tomato-and-citrus beverage. ● Tequila is aged in the plant, not the cask. Spirits like whiskey and wines are aged in oak barrels, to help smooth its edge; however, tequila is derived from the blue agave plant and is allowed to mature only for a short time. Unlike other spirits, letting tequila age longer than four years could deteriorate its quality.

  2. If you are craving a good glass of Tequila after reading this, you can find this lively spirit in any Mexican drinks menu in Glendale or during happy hours in Los Angeles. Happy Drinking!
