The SPUTNIC project highlights the critical challenges facing public transport (PT) in Europe amidst demographic changes, pollution, fossil fuel scarcity, and urbanization. With 60 billion passenger journeys annually and 1.2 million jobs in the sector, PT contributes €130 to 150 billion to the EU economy. This project emphasizes the need for a multimodal, integrated, and attractive PT system to ensure accessibility and sustainability. Strategies include improving cost-effectiveness, prioritizing infrastructure, and raising public awareness. Change is possible, and the future of PT is in our hands!
