  1. Risk Assessment Framework for Electric Arc Welders Dr. Liliana Rapas Direction of Public Health Bucharest Dr. Ing. Steluta Nisipeanu National Institute for Research - Development of Labor Protection

  2. Our Experience

  3. BackgroundRegulation *two frameworks: 1. occupational health and safety programmes 2.occupational medicine guidelines

  4. Background Strategy

  5. First study

  6. Second Study 1. The auditors team: occupational physician, welding technology engineer safety engineer 2. The system: workplace where welders are dealing with electric arc welding of stainless steel pieces of food industry technology 3. The method: *occupational medicine surveillance *risk assessment

  7. Documents: 1. Workplace assessment paper based on: * control list of identified and measured hazards * welding tehnology * environment * safety standards requirements 2. The matrix of gravity and frequency of risk health effects based on CEI-812/1985 3. Calculated risk level closely linked with safety level

  8. Results: Nr = ∑ ri x Ri / ∑ ri = 259 : 85 = 3,04

  9. Distribution of concentration (mg/m3 ) of gaseous and particulate mixture from“welding fume” oxides of nitrogen manganese iron oxide ozone

  10. Welding Fumes Compounds

  11. Occupational medicine surveillance results: Statistical information: one labor accident and 10 injuries

  12. Our observation: there is no relationship between health condition surveillance’ results and calculated risk Why?

  13. The importance:

  14. Conclusions:
