  1. My Community Service By: Broc McDowell Relay For Life April 13th & April 14th from 7:00pm – 7:00am.

  2. Relay For Life For my community service I worked Relay For Life with Phi Mu’s tent. Each person that participated raised $100 to donate to Relay for Life. That night, I helped them set up their tent. We set up a ping pong table and people could play games for $1.00. We sold candy to collect donations for Relay for Life. Many people walked the track throughout the night. Phi Mu alone raised almost $4000 for Relay for Life.

  3. Valdosta State’sFirst Relay for Life This was Valdosta State University’s First Relay For Life. As a whole, the University raised $35,000 for the American Cancer Society.

  4. What is Relay For Life? Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs of your American Cancer Society. During the event, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds, or parks and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times.

  5. What is Relay For Life Continued… Relay for Life is the signature event for the American Cancer Society. It offers communities an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer through an overnight relay event. Teams of people from all walks of life enjoy the events that raise awareness of cancer prevention as well as funds for cancer research.

  6. Me & Some Phi Mu Girls at Their Table

  7. The theme of Phi Mu’s table was “Put out Cancer”. We decorated the table with a Fire Fighter theme. This is Me selling candy to raise money for Relay for Life.

  8. Candlelight Service There was a candlelight service at 9:00 pm in honor of people whose lives of friends and family had been affected by cancer. The candles lined the track that everyone walked around. There was someone from each team there walking from 7:00pm until 7:00am.

  9. Backwards Pageant At 12:00pm, Relay for Life hosted a backwards pageant. This was where each team put in one male to compete in a female pageant. They competed in talent and evening gown. After each contestant went on stage, a bucket was passed around for money to be put in it. The judging was based on which contestant got the most money. The contestant with the most money was the winner.

  10. Bubba Boatwright was the contestant that ΦΜ chose to enter into the pageant.

  13. John Fleming buying candy.

  14. Why is community service important to me? Community Service is important to me because it gives me a chance to give back to people who are less fortunate than me. Through community service, students can learn new skills, assume responsibilities, become aware of the needs of others. and learn the importance of unselfish serving and giving. Community service links students to the wider community and exposes them to people and situations outside their previous experiences.

  15. Reflection Relay for Life is particularly important to me because 3 people in my family have died because of cancer. In my opinion, the American Cancer society is a great organization.

  16. If I Could do Community Service again, would I? I will definitely be doing community service again in the near future.
