A Visit to the Parthenon: A Letter from Jonathan Liu

Dear Mother, Today I visited the magnificent Parthenon, a newly built temple dedicated to Athena, our goddess of wisdom, commissioned by Pericles. The view from the Acropolis is breathtaking, though the climb was quite an endeavor. I admired the beautiful friezes and statues that grace its structure. I wish you could have experienced this grand opening with me! I will be returning home soon to share more stories. With love, your son, Jonathan Liu.

  1. Dear Mother, Today I went to the Parthenon. Wish you were here. It really is amazing! It was newly built by our ruler, Pericles, so I naturally had to see the grand opening. It was built in honor of our patron, Athena, the goddess of wisdom. Unfortunately, it’s at the top of the acropolis, so it takes quite a while to get up there. It contained many marvelous statues, and pediments and beautiful friezes . I will be back home soon! Your son, Jonathan Liu
