  2. Emotional Health It refers to your overall psychological well-being. It includes the way you feel about yourself, the quality of your relationships, and your ability to manage your feelings and deal with difficulties.

  3. Emotional Wellness How good you feel about yourself, your relationships, and your purpose in life. It does not mean that you will never be sad, angry, or confused.

  4. Emotional Healing It is a painful process that leads to  peace, happiness and self-knowledge.

  5. Causes of Emotional Troubles *Troubled, but not necessarily in crisis.

  6. Who Saves Supermom? Women often have many roles and responsibilities in their lives. • Mother • Daughter • Friend • Leader • Co-worker • Wife • Volunteer • Bill payer • Homemaker

  7. Ways To Care For Self • Appreciating Yourself • Finding Balance and Purpose

  8. Appreciating Yourself • Build your self-respect, confidence, and self-esteem. • Learn skills that help you cope with difficult emotions and situations.

  9. Self-respect • Physically • Mentally • Spiritually • Emotionally

  10. Self-confidence Feeling self-confident helps you believe that you can try new things. Even if things go wrong, self-confidence helps you know that you can try to make them better. • Don’t compare • Remember your good deeds • Forgive yourself and learn from your mistakes

  11. Self-Esteem • Accept your strengths, and your weaknesses • Congratulate yourself • Encourage yourself and others • Value yourself • Surround yourself with positive, healthy people • Turn anger around • Praise yourself • Do good things

  12. Learn skills that help you cope with difficult emotions and situations In general, there are three main ways that people tend to cope with stress: • Task-oriented coping • Emotion-oriented coping • Distraction-oriented coping

  15. Developing a Personal Mission Statement An example of a mission statement: • My purpose is to express my love for life by appreciating the small things, loving my family, and prioritizing my work. I will welcome each day with a smile.

  17. Emotional Health Problems Commonly can be caused by: • Family Traits • Physical Stress • Emotional Stress

  18. Depression It affects how you feel, think, and act. • Sad and hopeless • Gain and lose weight • Trouble sleeping or sleep too much • Feel restless • Feel worthless or very guilty • Have trouble with focus, memory, or choices.

  19. Anxiety Every one worries or feels a little nervous from time to time. Too much anxiety is not healthy if it interferes with ADL’s. • Helpless • Confused • Worried • Hard to Relate to Others

  21. Take Responsibility Let go of blaming others for your emotional health.

  22. Witness & Observe the Emotional Pain Recalling the experiences that cause of the most pain and facing them directly.

  23. Label & Define the Emotions • Sadness • Anger • Fear • Guilt

  24. Express It Get the emotions out of the physical body through safely guided processes.

  25. Share It Talking and sharing our experiences in a safe non-judgmental space.

  27. Celebrate It The final stage is to celebrate the experience and the gifts it brought into our life. • Passion for Life • Mental Clarity
