  3. Evolution of SSD Used by early supercomputers of IBM (1970s-1980s) Price of SSD too expensive General Instruments used EAROM in 1970s Early version of NAND flash Life span of this was <10 years

  4. SSD’s now M-Systems introduced flash-based SSDs, 1995 No batteries required High I/O performance and reliability Not as fast as DRAM Since then SSD successfully replace HDD Slowly becoming more mainstream
