  3. Start with story area/ carpet and circulation desk • 4 zones: computers, tables, story area/ carpet, and shelving • Bookcases: shorter is best, but… • Blind spots • More visible areas: small group area • Center stage: instructional

  4. Clear Expectations/ Matrix and procedures: • Student library contract • Teacher orientation • Matrix • Class visit procedure • Class check out procedures • Individual visit and check out procedure • Using computers

  5. Creating a successful environment • Consistency! • Ask student to identify problem (with help, if necessary) • Ask student to identify outcome • Follow through with consequences • Model, model, model!
