  4. NATO • Intergovernmental military alliance based on the North Atlantic Treaty which was signed on 4. April 1949. • 28 members. • 41 partners.

  5. United Nations • 192 members. • International organization founded in 1945 after the Second World War by 51 countries. • Committed to maintaining international peace and security.

  6. Advantages of joining the European Union • Better trading conditions results in better economy. • Free movement of citizens. • Working permisson for all citizens in all member states. • Military conflicts are solved together (peace commitment). • More influence in the world.

  7. Educational system. The goals are: • to enhance the environmental awareness of individuals worldwide • to increase scientific understanding of the earth • to improve students achievement in science and mathematics

  10. Relationships • With USA • Biggest trading partner of the EU • Cooperation based on the Transatlantic Declaration. • Cultural exchange in the form of education programs. • Military cooperation (Iraq, Libia) • Proposed free trade agreement between the European Union and United States.

  11. Russia • EU is Russias biggest trading partner with 52.3% of Russias foreign trade market. • Cooperation based on Euro-Russian relations agreement. • Russia has a significant role in the European energy sector as the largest exporter of oil and natural gas.

  12. China • Relations between China and EU established in 1975. • Main point of contention in relations is EU’s arms ban to China. • China is EUs second largest trading partner • Most of it is industrial and manufactured goods

  13. India • The EU is india´s largest trading partner • From 2000 the trade has more than doubled to 55.6 billion euros • The 12th EU-India summit will confirm that EU and India are streghthening and rebalacing their partnership in its political dimension.

  14. African countries • There´s a plan of action between EU and Africa. It includes: • Conflict prevention and resolution • Regional cooperation and integration (supressing rebellions, training local forces, piracy) • Integrating Africa into the world economy and trade. • HIV/AIDS and communicable diseases. • Human rights and democracy.

  15. In conclusion • EU is involved in military operations all around the globe. • Trade agreements with many countries. • EU helps to fight against poverty and unnecessary violence. • Educational programs with rest of the world.
