Practice Areas of A Lawyer • While preparing to become a lawyer, it is an excellent idea to research and learn all about the practice areas you are excited about pursuing. • It is also helpful to talk to attorneys and perhaps, obtain internships in those practice areas. A few of the attorney practice areas are highlighted below.

Family lawyers • Family lawyers are attorneys who deal with all facets of family relations. • Family lawyer also deals with domestic abuse, child support and custody, paternity, termination of parental rights, divorce and child abuse. • In this field of law, attorneys have the potential to help others through the most difficult times of their lives.

  4. Real estate lawyers Real estate lawyers assist in residential and commercial transactions. These lawyers help the buyer or seller understand the purchase contract and the mortgage terms. Real estate lawyers handle matters including everything from office and retail development to the construction of multifamily residential buildings.

  5. Employment lawyers Employment lawyers handle issues that arise in the workplace such as discrimination, harassment, worker's compensation, family leave, unfair wages etc. Employment lawyers also defend those individuals and entities accused of employment law violations.
