  6. The Harlem Renaissance • Overcame segregation of music clubs-that allowed blacks to perform • Overcame w/ jazz and blues music-Duke Ellington • By being talented

  7. Sports Accomplishments • Overcame racism by performing well in sports • Overcame negative threats from white teamates • Jackie Robinson

  8. Brown v Board of Education • Overcame school desegregation by suing the school board and winning • 1954 • Overcame crowded black schools by integrating
