  2. What is 1 to 1? • 1 student, 1 device • 24/7 access to the device • Matched curriculum and learning activities with the device

Our Journey towards 1-to-1 • 2012 • Year 7 Gifted and Talented Program begins – 26 students. • 2013 • VCE program beings – 220 students • GT program continues in Year 7 and 8 – 50 students • 2014 • VCE program continues – 250 students • GT program continues in Year 8 and 9 – 50 students • GT program at Year 7 adopts Surface RTs – 26 students

  4. 2015 – The Surface Pro-Gram • Year 7 students given the opportunity to access a Microsoft Surface Pro 3 and a full software and online learning package. • For the duration of the program, the device stays with the child. • Optional – There is no mandatory participation. • No BYOD • Surfaces are owned by the school to allow for technical support, reduced cost and greater software licensing. • No support can be offered for alternate devices.

The software • Microsoft Windows 8.1 • Microsoft Office 365 • the latest versions of Word, Powerpoint, Excel and OneNote. • Online access to web apps when using a different device. • Student Advantage Licensing – 5 computers and 5 mobile devices get Office. • Microsoft Store Apps • Microsoft DreamSpark Software • Expression Web for websites • Visual Studio for Programming

The Learning environment • Email • Students receive a “@bentleighsc.vic.edu.au” account, which is managed by the school and powered by Microsoft • OneDrive • 1 Terabyte (approx. 1,000 gigabytes) of personal, secure cloud storage, verified by the DEECD. • Micr0soft Sharepoint Online • All the learning resources, links, instructions, feedback and more, in one place. • Students can communicate and collaborate with teachers and students from all classes in their subject, in a safe and managed environment.
