Most important events ch 10/11? • Jonas learns that he is the new Receiver • He is learning that his job will be painful and stressful • Jonas learns there are many more books than the book of rules • He is told he will learn about ‘Elsewhere’ and the communities history • The first memory of snow is transmitted, it is enjoyable • Jonas is able to ask questions and realizes what the world was like before it went to ‘Sameness’ • ‘Sameness’ was decided on to improve things for the community/to make life easier • Jonas gets his first painful memory – Sunburn • Jonas refers to the old Receiver as ‘The Giver’
