  5. Design/Policy/Planning Complete Streets • Design and operate entire roadway with all users in mind • 379 regional and local jurisdictions + 26 states have adopted ordinance or policy.

  6. Design/Policy/Planning NACTO urban bikeway design guidelines • Provide cities withsolutions that can help create complete streets that are safe and enjoyable for bicyclists. • Lanes, intersections, signals, bike boulevards, cycle tracks, etc. • Free Webinars and resources.

Design/Policy/Planning Walk Friendly Communities • America Walks received funding from the National Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to bring workshops, technical assistance and other support services to local communities. • Steps to a Walkable Community: A Guide for Citizens, Planners, and Engineers. • This resource serves as the basis for a series of webinars, phone discussion groups, trainings, and walking campaign walkshops™.

Design/Policy/Planning Bicycle Friendly Community • The Bicycle Friendly Community Program provides incentives, hands-on assistance, and award recognition for communities that actively support bicycling. • The League named 24 new and 25 renewing BFC during the 2012 Spring BFC awards. • Minneapolis has reached the Gold level!

  10. Design/Policy/Planning Walkable 101: The Walkability Workbook Free set of documents and slide presentations providing guidance on everything needed to: • organize community walkability workshops, • conduct walkability audits and • prioritize changes for a better built environment.

Design/Policy/Planning Tampa Example- Walk/Bike Plan • Result of 2009 Comprehensive Plan Update – encourage growth in “mixed-use corridors and villages”. • Review past studies to ID, prioritize feasible bike/ped projects and put business plan in place for completion. • Projects either Complete Streets re-configuration (6) or stand-alone (20).

Design/Policy/Planning Tampa Example- (con’t) Walk/Bike Plan Projects identified/prioritized by this effort will be used to: • Allocate City tax revenues (i.e. local option gas tax, capital infrastructure sales tax). • Identify right-of-way needs and opportunities within City, County, and FDOT resurfacing projects and other public works projects. • Identify projects along the major road network eligible for Federal “Enhancement” funds or Federal Highway Safety Program funds.
