  4. Home – School Partnership • In your KS2 Home school pack you will find a Home-School partnership document. • A Home-School partnership is an agreement between the school, parents and child and sets out the expectations of each party. Every school has one and is a good way for everyone to understand and know their responsibilities. • Please read this and ask if you have any queries.

  5. Homework In KS2 , homework will be given out on a Friday to be handed back in on Wednesday - to allow children time to practise their spellings. Please support your child when needed.

  6. Reading In addition to the homework set, children are expected to spend at least 20-30 minutes reading every day. Please listen to them read and ask questions to ensure they understand what they are reading. Reading records: Children should write comments about the books they are reading a minimum of three times a week. Parents should initial the books to say that their child has read

  7. Spelling Every week we will send home a list of spellings in your child’s homework folder. Please help your child practise as they will be tested the following week at school; please do not remove the spellings from the folder; we will change them at school when necessary.

  8. Maths Mastery All teaching and learning opportunities involve the use of concrete manipulatives such as beadstrings, cubes and dienes/base ten apparatus to embed the teaching of number, place value and calculations.

  9. Maths Mastery Based on research and evidence Success for all pupils Problem solving is at the heart Focus is on depth, not acceleration Aligned to National Curriculum Focus on talk and reasoning about mathematics The Mathematics Mastery organisation’s mission is work in partnership to empower and equip schools to deliver world-class mathematics teaching.

  10. Times Tables By the end of Year 4 children are expected to know your times tables up to 12 x 12

  11. Times Tables Until now, there has been no way to measure children’s ability in timestables until Year 6 SATs. The idea is now that Multiplication Tables Check to be taken towards the end of Year 4 to make sure children are meeting the benchmark of memorising their times tables up to 12 x 12 before moving up to Upper Key Stage 2 (Year 5 and Year 6). https://www.timestables.co.uk/multiplication-tables-check/
