  2. Definition of Child Abuse • Physical maltreatment or sexual molestation of a child. • The most common form of child abuse is neglect.

  3. Statistics • More than 4 children die every day as a result of child abuse. • Approximately 80% of children that die from abuse are under the age of 4.

  5. Celebrities Abused • Oprah Winfrey – Sexual Abuse • Axl Rose – Sexual Abuse • Christina Aguilera – Physical and Emotional Abuse by parents.

  6. Jail Time • 180 days to 99 years or life depending on the severity of the crime and the offender's state of mind in Texas. • Or can be classified as a sex offender for life.

Our Views • Tommy: “I think there’s a fine line between child abuse and just regular punishment.” • Alex: “If you’re going to just abuse a child then there’s no point in having one.” • Ajitha: “If anybody knows about child abuse happening, they need to report it.” • Autumn: “I think that if you ever get the urge to abuse a child you need to go to therapy.”
