  2. Drivers of cars have lots to look out for when they are driving: So, they don’t need distractions from passengers • Busy junctions or roundabouts • Cyclists and pedestrians • Road works • Checking road signs In Car Safety

So, hands up please if you have ever: • Argued with your brother or sister in the car • Kicked the back of the drivers seat • Changed the music or radio station • Complained because you are bored • Unfastened your seatbelt whilst the car is moving • Opened the windows without permission In Car Safety

  4. How can we help? - 1 We can help to prevent boredom ? • Play I Spy, or • Rock Paper Scissors • Take a book to read • Play electronic games or listen to music In Car Safety

  5. How can we help? - 2 • We should always wear our seatbelts, even if it’s only a short journey • You will also help the driver if you check that other people in the car are wearing theirs In Car Safety

  6. How can we help? - 3 We shouldn’t touch any controls without the drivers permission. This includes: • The heating • Windows • The radio, or whatever music is playing In Car Safety

  7. How can we help? - 4 • Drivers should never use a hand held mobile phone, but if the drivers phone does ring you can answer it for them. • The best thing to do is tell the caller that the driver will call back later, when you’ve stopped • It’s safer not to relay a conversation as this will still distract the driver In Car Safety
