  4. Isaiah 53:1 - Who hath believed our report?... “our report” is yourandmymessage to others

  5. Isaiah 53:1 - Who hath believed our report?... Forepart of our message:Alienation • As to both the houses of Israel • Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me…. Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers. Isaiah 1:2,7

Forepart of our message:Alienation • As to all Gentiles • That I will break the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders. This is the purpose that is purposed upon the whole earth: and this is the hand that is stretched out upon all the nations. Isaiah 14:25,26

Main part of our message:Reconciliation • Earth’s inhabitants will be restored • And in this mountain shall the LORD of hosts make unto allpeople a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined. And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the coveringcast over all people, and the veil that is spread over all nations.

Main part of our message:Reconciliation • Earth’s inhabitants will be restored He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it. Isaiah 53:1 - Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? “…But how few have heard, in the true sense of hearing; how few have appreciated it; how few have seen in Jesus the Arm of Jehovah, stretched down for the relief of Adam and his race from sin and death! Only a handful, the saintly few, really and truly believe the message,…” R4831:5

  18. For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, thereis no beauty that we should desire him. Isaiah 53:2

  20. Isaiah 53:2 - For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant,... …a tender plant,… • Refers to Jesus’ tender loving heart And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick. Matthew 14:14

  22. Isaiah 53:2 - For he shall grow up before him as…a root out of a dry ground:… …a root out of a dry ground:… • Refers to Jesus’ perfect human vitality • For such a high priest became us, whois holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; Hebrews 7:26

  24. Isaiah 53:2 - ...he hath no form nor comeliness;...there is no beauty that we should desire him. Jesus: • Had no traditional attributes of royalty • Did not come from a royal blood line • Was not a great warrior

  25. He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and he hid as it were his face from us; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Isaiah 53:3 (margin)

And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judea and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases;…

  46. Isaiah 53:4 - Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows:… • Exactly how did he bear our infirmities? And they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed.And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him,and healed them all. Luke 6:17-19

  48. Isaiah 53:4 - Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows:… • Exactly how did he bear our infirmities? We do not know that our Lord was sick with any of the ordinary maladies. His perfect organism would apparently be proof against the intrusions of special diseases. Rather it would appear that his healing of diseasesmerelyexhausted his vitality, and thus left upon him the weight of our sicknesses. R4138:2
