ELECTRIC UTILITY SERVICE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS COMMITTEE https://the.euserc.org OUR HISTORY • Southern California utilities joined together in 1947 to establish uniform requirements for service entrance equipment that were safe for their employees and cost efficient for their customers. This group was called PUESR (Pacific Utilities Electric Service Requirements) • Northern California utilities formed a similar committee in 1950, called WUESSC (Western Utilities Electric Service Standardization Committee)

ELECTRIC UTILITY SERVICE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS COMMITTEE https://the.euserc.org OUR HISTORY • The standardization of service equipment proved to be a valuable effort and soon grew to include 40 electric utilities • In 1950, PUESR and WUESSC merged, creating a new organization called EUSERC. • EUSERC has grown in both size and influence and now includes approximately 70 utilities in 14 states • The standardization work has transformed the industry, making it safer and more cost efficient

ELECTRIC UTILITY SERVICE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS COMMITTEE https://the.euserc.org OUR PURPOSE • Promote uniform electric service requirements among the member utilities • Publish existing utility requirements for electric service equipment • Provide direction for the development of future metering technology

ELECTRIC UTILITY SERVICE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS COMMITTEE https://the.euserc.org OUR GOALS • Develop metering and service equipment that is safe and cost effective to the serving agencies and their customers • Establish manufacturing and installation requirements for metering and service equipmentthat are acceptable to all member utilities • Publish updated requirements on an annual basis • Provide feedback to manufacturers to further product safety and limit unnecessary cost

  6. ELECTRIC UTILITY SERVICE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS COMMITTEE https://the.euserc.org WHO ARE WE? • Electric Utilities throughout the United States • Underwriters Laboratories (UL) • National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) • California regulatory agencies, such as CPUC and Cal-ISO

ELECTRIC UTILITY SERVICE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS COMMITTEE https://the.euserc.org WHEN DOES EUSERC MEET? • The committee meets quarterly in February, May, August and November of each year • The general meetings last 2 days, typically on a Wednesday and Thursday during the first week of the month • The E-Board meets on the Tuesday prior to the general meeting • Meeting dates and locations can be found on the EUSERC website

ELECTRIC UTILITY SERVICE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS COMMITTEE https://the.euserc.org WHAT HAPPENS AT THE MEETINGS? • The EUSERC general membership meeting is a “working session” where every attendee has input into what goes into the requirements. • Each section of the manual will have open projects that are in need of development or may be ready for a vote • In addition, time is always set aside for training. There is typically a 1-1/2 to 2 hour training session at each meeting. Topics vary and are decided upon based on attendee input • Open Forum time is provided so attendees can conduct surveys or obtain advice for local issues they experience

ELECTRIC UTILITY SERVICE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS COMMITTEE https://the.euserc.org HOW DO I PREPARE FOR MEETINGS? • Keep track of upcoming projects and be ready to discuss how they impact your organization • Bring a copy of the EUSERC manual with you to the meeting and be familiar with the book’s layout • Use the website for discussions in-between meetings • Bring local issues to the meetings for Open Forum discussions • Send Inspection Reports to the Materials Chairman (Art Casillas)
