  7. Statement CC Crucial aspects are the central role of enthusiastic volunteers, the need to optimize membership benefits from a professional and personal perspective, the continuation and expansion of the globalization actions, and building on the future. Tomorrow’s engineers are a different type of persons with a strong multidisciplinary training and a very broad field of interest, having different needs and perspectives and using the rapid changing and advancing electronic communication tools and media. I am glad that there is a strongly growing awareness of this within IEEE by shaping their new products and services. Societies remain playing an important role within the organization, with at their center the chapters forming a direct link with the members. However, there is a strong need for Societies to work closely together to strengthen their position, exploit synergies and offering new possibilities. Also the link with the regional activities has to become stronger. As Division I Delegate/Director I would encourage joint activities between the different operational units, promote more involvement of global volunteers’ from both academia and industry at all operational levels, foster activities of students and GOLD members, and support new membership benefits initiatives.
