  1. Lessons From Acts Lesson 6: Christ is Risen

  2. Christ is Risen We preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness (1 Cor. 1:23) Christ demands faith but not blind faith If Christ hath not been raised, then is our preaching vain, your faith also is vain. (1 Cor. 15:14)

  3. Jews a Stumbling Block … Greeks Foolish Why Would Christ be a Stumbling Block to the Jews? Why Would “Christ Risen” be Foolish to the Gentile? What is the environment today?

  4. Paul went in the synagogues and reasoned (Acts 17:2, 17, 18:4 and 18:19) Fulfilled Prophecies

  6. Faith but not Blind Faith Prophecy Zec. 12:10 "And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn. Prophecy Fulfilled John 19:32-34 Then the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and of the other who was crucified with Him. But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs. But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.

  7. Faith but not Blind Faith Prophecy Isa. 53:9 And they made His grave with the wicked-But with the rich at His death, Because He had done no violence, Nor was any deceit in His mouth. Prophecy Fulfilled Mt 27:57-60 … there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who himself had also become a disciple of Jesus. This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be given to him. When Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and laid it in his new tomb which he had hewn out of the rock; and he rolled a large stone against the door of the tomb, and departed.

  8. Faith but not Blind Faith Prophecy Ps 16:10 For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption. Ps 49:15 But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave, For He shall receive me. Mt 16:21 From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.

  9. Faith but not Blind Faith Prophecy Fulfilled Mk 16:6-7 But he said to them, "Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him. But go, tell His disciples--and Peter--that He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him, as He said to you.“ Acts 2:23-24 Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death; whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it.

  10. Faith but not Blind Faith Prophecy Fulfilled Acts 2:30-32 … He would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne, he, foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption. This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses. Acts 3:14-15 But you denied the Holy One and the Just, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, and killed the Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses. Acts 4:10 let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead

  11. Faith but not Blind Faith Prophecy Fulfilled Acts 5:30-31 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus whom you murdered by hanging on a tree. Him God has exalted to His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins. Acts 10:39-40 And we are witnesses of all things which He did both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem, whom they killed by hanging on a tree. Him God raised up on the third day, and showed Him openly, Acts 13: 29-30 Now when they had fulfilled all that was written concerning Him, they took Him down from the tree and laid Him in a tomb. But God raised Him from the dead.

  12. Some Mocked Faith but not Blind Faith Prophecy Fulfilled Acts 13:33-34 God has fulfilled this for us their children, in that He hasraised up Jesus. As it is also written in the second Psalm: 'You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.' And that He raised Him from the dead, Acts 17:30-31 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all byraising Him from the dead. Acts 25:18-19 When the accusers stood up, they brought no accusation against him of such things as I supposed, but had some questions against him about their own religion and about a certain Jesus, who had died, whom Paul affirmed to be alive.

  13. Faith but not Blind Faith Prophecy Fulfilled Acts 26:22 "Therefore, having obtained help from God, to this day I stand, witnessing both to small and great, saying no other things than those which the prophets and Moses said would come--that the Christ would suffer, that He would be the first to rise from the dead Rev. 2:8 "And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write, 'These things says the First and the Last, who was dead, and came to life Rom. 1:3-4 concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh, and declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by theresurrection from the dead.

  14. Christ Not Raised … Your Faith Is Vain No Resurrection … Christ Not Risen Christ Not Risen (1 Cor. 15:14) Our Preaching is Vain Your Faith is Vain Christ Not Risen, You Are Still in Your Sin! (v. 17) No Hope But now Christ is Risen (v. 20) He became the firstfruits of them that sleep

  15. Christ Not Raised … Your Faith Is Vain Salvation Through the Resurrection 1 Pet 3:21 There is also an antitype which now saves us--baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him.
