The Four Themes • The Adaptive City (Richard Dawson) • The ability of the city to adapt its services and capabilities in the short-term and the long-term to the immediate and evolving needs of its citizens • The Personalised City (Shane Mitchell) • The ability for individuals and groups of citizens to configure the services and capabilities of the city to meet their immediate and evolving needs • The Supportive City (Marjan Sarshar) • The ability of the city to support its citizens in making decisions on how to exploit the city’s services and capabilities • Perceptions of the Quality of Life (Rick Robinson) • The ability of information about the city’s services and capabilities to contribute to the citizens’ perceptions of Quality of Life
Day One • Work Session 1 (10:45-12:00) • Describe the scope of the theme • Develop 3 or 4 scenarios that illustrate the theme • Select a rapporteur • Plenary Session 1 (12:00-12:30) • Reports on the work session (Facilitator: Jurij Paraszczak) • Work Session 2 (15:45-17:00) • Refine theme description & scenarios based on plenary exchange • Deepen discussion on how the theme bears on Quality of Life • Plenary Session 2 (17:00-17:30) • Reports on the work session (Facilitator: Jurij Paraszczak)
Day Two • Plenary Session 3 (09:15-10:30) • Rapporteurs discuss learning from Work Sessions (Facilitator: Jurij Paraszczak) • Work Session 3 (11:00-13:00) • Finalise theme description and your scenarios • Assess potential of theme to impact Quality of Life • How do these compare in magnitude to the effects of improving physical infrastructure? How do they compare in cost and doability? • Report Development (14:00-16:30) • Rapporteurs optionally develop materials for final report • Plenary Session 4 (Wednesday 16:30-17:15) • Reports on the Work Sessions (Facilitator: Jurij Paraszczak)
