La Cmara de Comercio Internacional nos dice, en su trabajo de Incoterms 2000 que es usual emitir los conocimientos de embarque en varios originales pero naturalmente, es de vital importancia para un comprador o para un banco que opere siguiendo sus instrucciones, asegurarse de que al pagar al vendedor, este entrega todos los originales (llamado juego completo o full set). Esto constituye una exigencia segn las Reglas de la Cmara de Comercio Internacional sobre Crditos Documentarias.

    92. B/L de Transporte Multimodal Documento que ampara operaciones de traslado de mercancas por, al menos, dos medios de transporte diferentes. Este documento debe contener, al menos: a.- nombre del transportista u operador multimodal y debe estar firmado/autenticado por el transportista, o el operador multimodal o su agente. b.- debe indicar que los bienes han sido despachados, tomados a cargo, o cargados en el transporte indicado c.- el lugar donde se tomo la mercanca y el destino final de la misma.
