  2. OPENING SENTENCE John

  3. Opening Prayer Let us pray: O you, who awakened us to life, who knew us before our mothers bore us and loved us in the labour of birth; as you shone with kindness in the morning light so enfold us in the darkness of evening; as you watched with love at the beginning of our days so hold us when days are past. From early till late, from the first to the last, amidst our living and in our dying, your intention towards us is love. Guide us this night in the things of the eternal; lead us with your Spirit, and let us taste of the fruits that are forever, O you, whom our souls love. Holy God, holy and mighty Holy and immortal, have mercy on us John

  4. CANTICLE: A SONG OF FORGIVENESS Remember these things, O ]acob, For you are my servant. I formed you, O Israel, And you will not be forgotten by me. l have swept away your transgressions like a cloud, And your sins like a mist. Return to me, for I have redeemed you. Sing, O heavens ,for the Lord has done it. Shout, O depths of the earth, and break forth into singing. Isaiah 44 John

  5. Song 2:8-14 (NIV) 8 Listen! My lover! Look! Here he comes, leaping across the mountains, bounding over the hills. 9 My lover is like a gazelle or a young stag. Look! There he stands behind our wall, gazing through the windows, peering through the lattice. 10 My lover spoke and said to me, "Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, and come with me. 11 See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone. 12 Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land. 13 The fig tree forms its early fruit; the blossoming vines spread their fragrance. Arise, come, my darling; my beautiful one, come with me."  My dove in the clefts of the rock, in the hiding places on the mountainside, show me your face, let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely. Helen

  6. 1. My soul is filled with joyas I sing to God my savior:you have looked upon your servant, you have visited your people.RefrainAnd holy is your name through all generations!Everlasting is your mercy to the people you have chosen, and holy is your name.3. To the hungry you give food, send the rich away empty. In your mercy you are mindfulof the people you have chosen.3. In your love you now fulfillwhat you promised to your people.I will praise you, Lord, my savior, everlasting is your mercy. Helen

  7. Mary Proclaims And Mary said, The Lord has shown strength with his arm; he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts.  He has brought down the powerful from their thrones, and lifted up the lowly; he has filled the hungry with good things, and sent the rich away empty. He has helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy, according to the promise he made to our ancestors, to Abraham and to his descendants forever." And Mary remained with Elizabeth about three months and then returned to her home. Luke 1:51-56 (NRSV) Helen

  8. Blessed are we who depend on God • The fruit of our ministry in in God’s hands – only he can affect the lifting of the lowly • Let Go of the results John

  9. PRAYERS OF THANKSGIVING AND INTERCESSION We give thanks, O God, that all things are yours, from the beginning to the end, from the rising of the sun to its setting, the solid rocks of the earth around us, all that is vibrant with life, all that {lies above and swims in the seas. And we too are yours, the whole of our beings, all that is seen and unseen in us, all that is known and still to be known. John

  10. We give thanks that your Spirit is deep within the human spirit, that the life of heaven is interwoven among the things of earth, and that the hope of what is yet to be has been placed within us. For your unending stream of life, O God, that flows through the whole of creation, we give you thanks. Unlock the garden that is each of us, unseal the fountain of the waters that will never fail, that we may be made new again. [Here free prayer may be offered.] John

  11. Canticle: A song of wisdom O God of my ancestors and Lord of mercy, who have called all things into being, And by wisdom have formed humankind In rule the world in righteousness, Grant me the wisdom that sits by your throne, For she knows your works And was present when you made the world. She understands what is pleasing in your sight and what is right according to your commandments. John

  12. Send her forth from the holy heavens, and from the throne of your glory send her, that she may labour at my side, and that I may learn what is pleasing to you. For she knows and understands all things, and will guide me wisely and guard me with her glory. Wisdom 9 John

  13. CLOSING PRAYER May we know your presence among us, O God. Free us from dividing the holy from the ordinary, Lest we think that you visit us Only in the set apart place and time, Lest we think that it is only here that we open the doors of our hearts to you. In all places, in all times, in all the people whom we meet, your presence is round us and we look with expectation. Even in sleep may our hearts be awake to you, in our dreams and subconscious depths. O Lover of our ever-living souls, watch over us and all creation this night. Until the day breathes and the shadows of night flee, assure us, O God, of your world encompassing love. Helen

  14. BENEDlCTlON By the tender mercy of our God, may the dawn from on high break upon you May he give light when you sit in darkness and in the shadow of death And may he guide your feet into the way of peace. Helen

  15. Deep within my heart I feel voices whispering to me.Words that I can’t understand; Meanings I can’t clearly hear!Calling me to follow close, lest I leave myself behind!Calling me to walk into evening shadows one more time!So I leave my boats behind! Leave them on familiar shores! Set my heart upon the deep! Follow you again, my Lord!In my memories, I know how you send familiar rainsfalling gently on my days, dancing patterns on my pain! And I need to learn once more in the fortress of my mind,to believe in falling rain as I travel deserts dry! Helen

  16. So I leave my boats behind! Leave them on familiar shores! Set my heart upon the deep! Follow you again, my Lord!As I gaze into the night down the future of my years,I’m not sure I want to walk past horizons that I know! But I feel my spirit called like a stirring deep within, restless, ’til I live again beyond the fears that close me in!So I leave my boats behind! Leave them on familiar shores! Set my heart upon the deep! Follow you again, my Lord! So I leave my boats behind! Leave them on familiar shores! Set my heart upon the deep! Follow you again, my Lord! Follow you again, my Lord!
