The Ohio Turnpike, a vital 4-lane divided highway stretching 241 centerline miles from Indiana to Pennsylvania, has significantly evolved since its inception back in 1955. With the construction of an additional lane and the addition of service plazas, the highway has increased its capacity to handle growing traffic volumes, which rose from 10.6 million vehicles in 1956 to 50.3 million in 2013. Successful infrastructure management through ongoing maintenance and performance tracking is crucial to enhancing asset longevity. Insights from Dennis C. Albrecht, Assistant Chief Engineer, emphasize the importance of pride in asset condition.
