  1. Welcome to DARS!(Degree Audit Reporting System) A tutorial for Michigan Tech Undergraduate Students (Use the spacebar on your keyboard or click your mouse to move through the tutorial. Press the Esc key at any time to close.)

A useful advising tool for undergraduates and advisors. • A “snapshot” of where you stand to help track academic • progress. • A comparison of your course work against your program • requirements, including majors, minors, certificate programs • and second degrees. • A DARS audit will show both completed and unfulfilled • requirements What is a DARS Audit?

  3. To access DARS, sign in to your student account through Banweb(banweb.mtu.edu) Getting Started

  4. Once you are signed in … • Select the Student Services tab • Next, click on Student Records in the Student Services menu • Then, select Degree Auditfrom the Student Records menu • Next, select Run Audit from the Degree Audit menu • Finally, click on Run Audit one more time … Please note: The audit may take a few moments to run

  5. Your curriculum information and audit results will be displayed. Click on a program to see audit results.

  6. At the top of each audit is your personal information and graphics to help guide you through the audit. Student ‘M’ number and catalog year for requirements Name and program code Degree requirements are separated into categories for easy viewing 29 unfulfilled 81 complete 18 in progress A color-coded pie chart shows complete, In Progress and unfulfilled credits. Categories are color-coded to coincide with the pie chart. You can scroll over the individual categories to see how many credits are earned, in progress or unfulfilled

  7. You have the option to display one category at a time or to display all categories and requirements at once. To view one requirement at a time, click anywhere on the bar graph of the individual category Click on the ‘Open All Sections’ link to view all categories and requirements at once

  8. Example: By clicking on the Major Area category, requirements associated with the major will display. Before After Requirements associated with the major category

  9. Requirement areas will remain closed until you open them. Closed Open

  10. You can open all requirements within the selected category or open one requirement at a time. To open all requirements, click on the ‘Open All Sections’ link To open one requirement at a time, click on the button near the requirement

AUDIT STRUCTURE • Other status notifications include: • -ALL DEGREE REQUIREMENTS • HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFULLY • COMPLETED • ALL REQUIREMENTS • COMPLETED – IN PROGRESS • COURSES USED This line indicates the overall status of degree completion Requirement type and credits required Sub-requirement Course selection list. Click on courses number for course description! “Needs” tells how many credits are needed to complete the sub-requirement

  12. Reading Requirements and Sub-requirements This requirement is incomplete – 18 credits are required and only 15 have been earned. One sub-requirement needs to be completed. Sub-requirement 1 is incomplete, noted by the ‘-’ symbol in front of the 1). The IP next to the 1) indicates that In-Progress courses are being used within the sub-requirement. Nine (9) credits are required and six (6) have been taken. The ‘IN-P’ symbol indicates the number of In-Progress credits are included in the total credits earned so far. Three (3) credits remain unfulfilled and the remaining course is BA4800.

  13. Below is an example of a completed sub-requirement. The ‘+’ in front of the sub-requirement number indicates that the sub-requirement is complete. Completed with three (3) credits of In-Progress course work

  14. There are two requirements near the bottom of your audit that will always be ‘incomplete’ because there is no limit to the course work accepted within the requirements. Any repeated courses will be listed in this requirement This requirement consists of three sub-requirements: Courses with valid grades that may be applicable to your degree requirements Course work with invalid grades that are not eligible to be used toward degree requirements, and Graduate level course work that has been applied to a graduate level transcript.

  15. Audit Structure A red ‘X’ means the requirement is incomplete A hollow green ‘check’ means the requirement is complete using in-progress course work An RGIP grade means the course is “registered, in-progress” A solid green ‘check’ means the requirement is complete with completed course work

  16. Click on View Course History for a complete list of your course work including in-progress courses A summary of your credit hours by term is displayed in chart form r

  17. To return to your audit, select the ‘View Academic Progress’ link You can view your course history by individual term using the drop-down menu or You can view your course history by term, course number, credit hors, grade or course title by clicking on the column title

  18. Finally, a legend at the bottom of the audit explains grade, requirement and sub-requirement symbols
