GA in Relation to the Rest of the World • Georgia is one part of a very large world • Georgia is located in the Northern Hemisphere (in North America) • Georgia is located in the Southeast region of the United States (north of Florida) • The weather is mild, with hot summers and cool winters Map Longitude and Latitude

The Impact of Climate on GA’s Development • GA has mild climate with cool winters and warm summers • The mild climate makes GA both good farming area and a good tourist spot • The temperature averages 50 degrees in the winter and 80 degrees in the summer(cooler in the north) • Summer is usually hot and humid and the winters are usually short

The Impact of Climate on GA’s Development cont’d… • The Coastal Plain and Piedmont regions are more humid and tropical than the other regions (summers tend to be long and hot) • Summers in the Appalachian regions are cooler and less humid (winters are cooler but mild when compared to the rest of the country) • The Blue Ridge Mountain region gets the most rain

  5. What is Precipitation? • the moisture in the form of rain, melted snow, and ice • Averages 50 inches a year • Helps the agriculture, or farming industries • Summer and winter are the rainiest seasons in GA

  6. Georgia Facts • GA is one of the leading growers of chickens and eggs • Peanuts are grown more in GA than any other state • Cotton is an important crop • Forestry is another business (where climate is important) • GA’s mild climate has helped it become a favorite vacation spot • Weather Bug
