  2. The setting of, The Cask of Amontillado takes place in some sort of European country. The time is during a celebration called, Carnival, which is a Catholic religion celebrated masquerade style. Through out the short story another place visited included, a crypt. Setting

  3. In the short story, The Cask of Amontillado, the narrator is Monstresor. The narrator speaks in a first person point of view. Narrator/Point of view

  4. The conflict in the short story is between man vs. man. The man vs. man are Montresor and Fortunato. Also, there is a man vs. self conflict between Montresor and his mind. Conflict

  5. Main Characters The main characters in the short story are Fortunato and Montresor. Fortunato displays character traits such as, insulting, non-intelligent, and gullible Montresor on the other hand is, clever, insane, and revengeful.

  6. Anger/Revengeful) The Montresor wants to get revenge on Fortunato. Excitement) When the Monstesor informs Fortunato that he has received a pipe that passes for Amontillado. This is when Fortunato his doubts and needs to see the Amontillado. Worried) The Monstressor shows that he’s worried about Fortunato’s health when Fortunato coughs for a long time. Dull) When Monstresor had tricked the Fortunato and got away with it by killing him. Mood

  7. Figurative Language Foreshadowing: “The thousand injuries of Fortunato I had borne as I best could, but when he ventured upon insult, I vowed revenge.”- When Monstresor said this, it made the reader expect something to happen to Fortunato. (pg.209)

  8. 3 Quotes Theme: What goes around comes around(karma) “The thousand injuries of Fortunato I had borne as I best could, but when he ventured upon insult, I vowed revenge.”- Fortunato did something to the Monstresor which caused him to retaliate. “I continued, as was my wont, to single in his face, and he did not perceive that my smile now was at the thought of his immolation.”- Fortunato didn’t know that Monstresor was coming for him. “My heart grew sick-on account of the dampness of the catacombs.”- Monstresor didn’t feel guilty for killing Fortunato.

Groups Opinion Jocelin- I enjoyed reading this short story because Monstresor had an amazing thought out plan of killing Fortunato Stephanie- I didn’t like the short story because I don’t like death in general Zach- I really did not enjoy this short story. It had a good concept, but it was really confusing. Becky- I thought that it was gloomy, but it was really interesting the way Monstresor trapped Fortunato.

Falling Action As the liquor starts to wear off on Fortunato he realizes what Montressor is doing. He begins to scream and shout for Montressor to stop. But Montressor finishes the wall and leaves Fortunato for death1 Conflict Montressor wanted to Plot revenge against Fortunato. Resolution Montressor traps Fortunato In a crypt by chaining him to a rock and building a brick wall, teaching Fortunato to Never do him wrong again. If you do someone wrong they will get their revenge.
